Looking after your staff, and helping staff achieve their best is one of the keys to growing a successful business. Doing so is mostly about good people management skills and processes. However underpinning any good team is a good HR system, for example to record holidays, store staff details, and training and disciplinary records.
Choosing an HR system for an SME (small to medium sized enterprise) isn't easy. There are many HR systems to choose from. Over the years, I've run small businesses, and now work with a number of SMEs helping them grow. One decision we often have to make is "which HR system should be adopted". In this blog, I'll take you through some of the thought processes we've followed. I hope it will help you to make an informed choice.
As the HR system market has matured, there are now a number of established vendors, so for most businesses we've settled on a small number of HR systems we are confident will meet most small businesses needs. Therefore I will keep this blog updated with new HR systems as I come across them, and how they compare. And also, thoughts on best practice for how to run a successful team.
